The next stop on the 2011 Rotundo World Tour is this weekend, right here in the Big O: OSFest, the Omaha Science Fiction and Fantasy Festival. Guests of Honor include David Weber, Sarah Clemens, and Gintaras Duda.
Here’s my schedule:
Friday
11 PM–The Magnificent 7 and the 7 Deadly Sins
The 7 best and 7 worst science fiction films.
Saturday
2 PM–To Remake or Not To Remake
Another look at remakes, reboots, and sequels. (Those of you who know me a little know I have some, ah, strong feelings on the subject.)
3 PM–Harlan Ellison: Bad Boy of SF Literature?
A look at the career and antics of Harlan Ellison. (If for no other reason, come to this one to see me make some enemies. Should be fun!)
6 PM–Redshirts: How To Kill Your Characters
When is it necessary to kill off a character you have created, why is it done, and some intriguing methods for doing it. "Crewman number 13, please report to the transporter room."
Sunday
10 AM–Writing Workshop
Try your hand at writing exercises designed to get your creative juices flowing. Bring paper and pen.
1 PM–Reading
Haven’t decided yet what I’ll be reading. But as always, some goodies will be provided. Come for a treat, stay for a tale!
Times and dates are, of course, subject to change.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention–I’ll be playing Room Con 7.2 on Saturday night. Always a good time!
It has been such a joy to witness the growth of this con in four short years. I’m glad to be a part of it. Hope to see you this weekend!
