All the World’s Indeed a Stage

Word has reached me that Rush, one of my all-time favorite bands, is hitting the road this summer.  That in itself is cause for celebration.  The only news that could possibly top it?  If Geddy, Alex, and Neil returned to my hometown, for the first time in–oh, somewhere in the neighborhood of two decades.

August 25th.  It’s a Wednesday.

As Samwise once said, "O great glory and splendor!  And all my wishes have come true!"

Progress Report, in which I am rudely interrupted

As INXS taught us, "Sometimes you kick, sometimes you get kicked."

Yeah.

The (vastly overrated) Real World rudely interrupted last week.  Stress at the day job + computer issues at home = Massive Schedule Disruption.  I didn’t get anywhere near as far as I wanted with the read-through of Wet Work

There is good news on the computer front, at least:  a brand-spankin’ new machine, and zero data loss.  My documents were never in any danger, as I had backups on both the laptop and a flash drive.  The pictures and some music, though, would have been difficult or impossible to replace.

But all that’s been averted.  And you know, the new machine’s deductible, so there’s that.  Fun with depreciation.

No updates for Write Club.

Right.  Picking myself up off the dirt now . . .

Progress Report, in which I give it the once-over. Twice.

PC problems persist, so I’m soldiering on with the laptop.  Even so, I managed to finish the rewrite of "The Hills."  Here’s Magic Meter to make it official:

This took me longer to finish than I thought it would.  I spent a few extra days tinkering and puttering.  I find I do this with every story I work on:  before I can bring myself to call it done, I have to give it the once-over.  Twice.  Or in the case of this story, three times.

Here’s a snippet:
