Hugos 2010!

As you may know, the Hugo nominations are now open.  Members of Aussiecon 4 and Anticipation are eligible to nominate.

I have four eligible works, two short stories and two novelettes:

"Fuel," Cosmos (online edition only), April 2009, short story

"The Multiplicity Has Arrived," Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show, issue 12, May 2009, short story

"Gone Black," Writers of the Future Volume 25, Galaxy Press, September 2009, novelette

"Canaan," Jim Baen’s Universe, issue 21, October 2009, novelette

"Fuel" is available for free online.  If you’re a potential Hugo voter and would like copies of any of the other three stories, drop me a line in comments.

The nomination deadline is March 13.  Whether you vote for me or not, please nominate something you find deserving.

Progress Report, in which I stretch . . . really

Ever look back on the previous week and think that you’re pretty sure you accomplished some stuff, but now, for the life of you, you can’t really think of what it might have been, and it feels like you spent the last seven days doing nothing but playing hearts on the computer?

Yeah.  Me, too.

I embarked on one of my novel crits.  That’s something.

I got a few mss back in the mail.  That’s something, too.

Oh, and I did another review for Fantasy.  It should be up soon.  I’ll be sure to let you know when.

So, yeah, I did some stuff.  That film review, in particular, was a tricky one to write.  But hey, I’m still a neophyte with the form, still learning.  And as such, I’m still struggling to get it right.  This is a Good Thing.  With me being locked into crits for the next month or so, I could use a healthy stretching of the writing muscles.

Yeah, stretching.  That’s what I did last week.  I stretched.

As far as you know, anyway.

And in that uncertain state, I leave you.

Look! I’m on YouTube!

The good folks at Writers of the Future have set up a YouTube channel.  You can view the entire 2009 awards ceremony there, helpfully broken into sections.  You can also view mini-interviews with all the winners and judges, which had been conducted immediately following the ceremony.  I’d been wondering what had happened to all that footage; now I know.

So if you’d like to see me all tuxed up and stammering through an interview, trying (and failing) to sound intelligent, look no further.
