Progress Report, in which I clear the decks

I think it’s time, kids.  Time to start another novel.

I’ve cleared the decks.  Database is updated.  Correspondence has been caught up.  Manuscripts have been sent back out.  It’s dark, and I’m wearing sunglasses.

Hit it.

Wish me luck.

(Oh, and one Write Club update:  Giving up on one novel query.  Six months is long enough.)

Aspiring Writers: Your Villain’s Childhood

My pal Abby Goldsmith—writer, animator, illustrator, and all-around terrific person—is the mastermind behind Aspiring Writers, a kind of “writing reality show,’ in which aspiring writers discuss various writing topics.  A few weeks back, I participated in one these discussions, which is now live.  Episode 3, “Your Villain’s Childhood,” also features Leah Cutter, Jason Denzel, Leigh Reinhart, and Abby herownself.

The discussion ranged from writing in an antagonist’s POV to the thin line between victims and evil-doers to villainous sex.  Clearly, we covered a lot of ground.

Do check it out.  Abby’s got something pretty cool going on here.

Progress Report, in which I hint at nefarious plots

Last week, I promised new words, and so it has come to pass.  A bit of flash, for a kind of Sekrit Projekt.  Whatever.  New words is new words:

I have very little experience with flash; writing short just Ain’t My Thang.  But for all of that, I thought this piece came together nicely.  I’m quite pleased with it.

Now I just need to ship it off to an Undisclosed Location, where nefarious plots are being hatched.  HA HA HA HA—oh, wait.  Sorry.  That just slipped out.  Forget I said it.

Next up, we return to the novel project I’d been meaning to start since getting back from WorldCon.  I’m most decidedly late at this point, but hey, it’s only my self-imposed schedule, right?  I’ll make a run at it, anyway.  This will keep me busy through the end of the year.

No updates for Write Club.

Off to hatch more nefarious plots . . .

(Oh, wait.  Forget I said that, too.)
