Machine Readable bleeps me

I mentioned last week that I’d been interviewed at MileHiCon by the good folks at Machine Readable, a science fiction and fantasy podcast.  For them as are interested, the interview is now available here, along with interviews of Cherie Priest, Jon Keeyes, and Melinda Snodgrass.

This was a lot of fun.  So much fun, in fact, that certain naughty bits have been bleeped for your protection.

OK, admit it:  now you’re curious, right?

Progress Report, in which I celebrate

So how exactly does one celebrate completing a difficult rewrite?  By going to MileHiCon, of course.

That’s what I did, anyway.  And had a fabulous time.  The folks at MileHiCon put together a helluva con, I must say.  I find myself consistently impressed by how smoothly and professionally it’s run.

Highlights, in no particular order:

Getting interviewed for the Machine Readable podcast.  Seriously.  Me.  Interviewed.  Dig it.  Should be available soon.

Barbecue at Lou Berger’s place, replete with great food (including s’mores!), great conversation, and, of course, the Redneck Firepit.  Long may it burn.

Learning that the good folks at Who Else! Books had ordered several copies of Writers of the Future Volume XXV just for me.  I was astonished and delighted.  I signed their stock, natch.  Hope they moved a few units.

Chatting with Melinda Snodgrass about her work on Star Trek:  The Next Generation and the Wild Cards screenplay.

The short story panel, on which I participated, along with Van Aaron Hughes, Carol Hightshoe, Alastair Mayer, and the inimitable Connie Willis.

Karaoke on Friday night.  Yep, even at a con far from home, I found a way to karaoke.

A nice assortment of panels and events, ranging from social networking discussions to essential SF movies to hipster readings, complete with bongos.  Groovy.

And of course, meeting and greeting friends old and new, far too numerous to catalog here.  Y’all know who you are.

It was a busy time, obviously, but in the few quiet moments, I cogitated a bit on upcoming projects.  I am so done with rewrites at the moment.  The next thing I write will be—gasp and swoon!—something entirely new.  Looking forward to it.

No updates for Write Club.

Laterz . . .
